If you want a Wix alternative in South Africa that builds the site for you, the cheapest options are Just1 at R97 once-off (R388 in year one) and Dean Goulding Websites at R999 once-off with copywriting. Monthly done-for-you plans cost R350 (Done Digital) to R980 plus VAT (CodeLab One) a month. Wix itself is DIY: Light is US$17 a month on a yearly plan, ≈R3,361 a year before tax, and you do the building. We sell Just1, so every other price here comes from the provider’s own page, checked 20 October 2026.
Key Takeaways
- Wix is a tool, not a service. You pay in dollars (US$17 a month for Light, billed yearly, tax extra) and write, design and update the site yourself.
- Just1 is the cheapest done-for-you option in year one. R97 once-off with 3 months online, then R97 every 3 months: R388. Your own .co.za is R199/month with Page Care.
- Dean Goulding is the cheapest once-off build with your own domain. R999 for one page with copywriting, free hosting while you stay, domain about R105 a year, and you pay only after approving the draft.
- Monthly plans spread the cost but last longer. Done Digital is R350 a month, cancel anytime. CodeLab One is R980 plus VAT with a 12-month minimum. GoodGround’s Launch Offer is R845 a month for 12 months.
- Check ownership before you sign. LaunchCraft and GoodGround (after 12 months) say the site becomes yours. On monthly plans, ask what happens to the site if you cancel.
What a done-for-you website actually is (and what it is not)
Wix is a website builder. It gives you templates, an AI first draft and a drag-and-drop editor, and hosts the site for a monthly fee. Wix shows South Africans dollar prices “for reference only”, billed yearly, with tax added at checkout. Its free plan doesn’t connect your own domain, and accepting payments starts on Core at US$29 a month. If you like design and have the time, it gives you full control.
A done-for-you website is a service. You send your details, photos and logo, and a person builds the site. Some charge once-off and host for a small monthly fee. Others build the cost into a subscription, often with a minimum term.
It is not a marketing plan. A new site doesn’t bring visitors by itself; you still share the link, put it on your quotes and bakkie, and get found on Google over time.
The question for a busy owner is simple: how much will it cost in year one to get a site that looks real and gets calls, without doing the work yourself?
How We Ranked These Wix Alternatives
We opened each provider’s own pricing page on 20 October 2026, from a South African internet connection. Only services where a person builds the site made the list. We compared:
- Year-one cost in rand, build plus 12 months of hosting, at the cheapest published package.
- Upfront payment and minimum term.
- Pages in the cheapest package.
- Own domain and who owns the site.
We left out designers who don’t publish prices. Ranking is by year-one cost, cheapest first.
The Best Wix Alternatives That Build It for You in 2026
Seven South African services that build the site for you, ranked by year-one cost. Each says who it suits. If a price has changed, tell us on WhatsApp and we’ll fix it.
1. Just1, best for the lowest year-one cost, built over WhatsApp
Just1 is a South African service. You pay, send your details and photos in one WhatsApp chat, and we build the page. Our terms promise a preview within 24 hours of getting everything we need. You approve it in the chat and we publish it. No editor, no laptop, no sales call.
It costs R97 once-off, including the first 3 months online at yourbusiness.just1.co.za, then R97 every 3 months, so year one is R388. For your own .co.za and email, Page Care is R199/month (R2,388 a year): the domain is registered in your name and you WhatsApp us changes.
You pay in rand by card, EFT, FNB ATM cash deposit or cash at Pay@ tills. A 90-day guarantee refunds the website payment and you keep the site.
The limits are real: it is one page, with no online shop or booking system, and on the R97 option changes after delivery aren’t included.
Best suited for: Owners on site or on the road all day who want a site live this week without touching a laptop. Best for service businesses that get work by phone and WhatsApp.

2. Dean Goulding Websites, best for a once-off page with copywriting and your own domain

Hosting is free for as long as you stay with him. The domain is registered in your name at about R105 a year, paid by you, so year one on Launch is about R1,104. There is no deposit: he builds a draft and you pay once you approve it. Extra work is R450 an hour, and Protect (R150 a month) is optional.
If you want your own domain and someone to write your copy, this is cheaper in year one than Just1 Page Care (R2,388).
Best suited for: Owners who want a designer to write and build the page and their own domain from day one. Good if you can wait for a draft and a round of changes.

- 88 live customer sites are shown on our industry pages. 93 Just1 sites are live right now.
- 24/7 Auto Electric, Midrand: Google search ads we set up, 16 April to 23 June 2026: R15,097.60 ad spend, 2,163 clicks on the ads, 657 tracked taps on call or WhatsApp, R22.98 per tracked tap. A tracked tap is a tap on the call or WhatsApp button after an ad click, not a booked job.
