What SA customers do online when they need a massage therapist
Figures from Google Trends on how South Africans search for a massage, which months are busiest and which searches are rising, plus what Google shows today.

People search “near me”, not “massage therapist”
In 2025, South Africans searched “spa near me” (62) and “massage near me” (58) far more than “massage therapist” (13), “couples massage” (7) or “deep tissue massage” (2). These are Google’s yearly averages for one comparison, and “spa near me” also catches spas that do not offer massage. Put your town and area at the top of your page, so people near you find it.
Searches peak in December and January
From 2019 to 2025, Google searches for “massage near me” in South Africa averaged 85.6 in December and 76 in January, the two highest months, and 56.9 in May, the lowest. Have your festive specials and gift options on your page by November.
People search for a type of massage and “open today”
From 2019 to 2025, the fastest-rising searches for “massage near me” in South Africa included “thai massage near me open today” and “shiatsu massage near me” (both Breakout). Name each massage you offer and show your opening hours, so people can see you are open before they message.

On 28 October 2026, Google’s top 10 for “websites for massage therapists south africa” was mostly directories, booking apps and massage courses, such as massage.co.za, Fresha, WhatClinic and Bark. Your own page is where clients who already know your name can check your treatments and prices and book with you on WhatsApp.
